De Mis Vivos y Mis Muertos by Jorge Mayet
Made from electrical wire, paper, acrylics, fabric

I love the realness of this installation piece, and how the craftsmanship is so well done that I couldn't even tell the branches were actually made from the materials listed above. The most interesting aspect of this piece to me is the highlight of the roots through the large scale, dark colour and small attention to detail, because it is more expected to see merely the trunk of the tree and up in works of art. I like that although the two sections are attached, and the roots give life to the tree, that the roots really have a life of their own in my opinion because of how much they jump out to me.
Entre Dos Aquas by Jorge Mayet

In this piece, I interpret the roots that are connected to the two bodies of grass, to also symbolize lightning strikes. I make this connection because tall objects, commonly trees, attract the magnetic energy of lightning and often are struck moving the energy into the ground.

To me, the point of view of these two pieces really gives me a connection to the forest. They help me picture myself standing in the middle of a patch of trees, looking up towards the sky, and feeling a sense of environment in my surroundings. Although the works are in white, black, shades of grey, I can still picture the blue sky, white clouds, can hear the birds chirping and the crunching of leaves beneath my feet. I really believe that these pieces make me feel this way because of the upward looking point of view.
The Poetics of Reflection by Diego Mendoza Imbachi

I really am not sure how to interpret this piece because I do not think I fully grasp the message and the context. The reflection of the tree almost looks to be like a electricity/hydro pole, so it could be referencing that trees produce energy?
